Kutubuddin Kamal
Kutubuddin Kamal is a final year Engineering student, majoring in Telecommunication. When he was little, he wasn't excited about wires or opening up his toy cars to check the mechanism (although he did enjoy breaking them), rather he was entralled by books and loved to read and eventually write. It never occured to him that he could become a writer until his first article was published in a magazine in a national newspaper, when he was in grade 6. For the next two years he kept on contributing to the magazine, mostly writing humorous non-fiction articles.
With time he had wanted to become a lot of things, especially a singer, but realized his off beat vocals didn't compare to his knack for writing.
In 2007, he was chosen to write for an online magazine, the first of its kind in his country, and concentrated on fiction and poetry. Later in the year, he began working as a writer for the feature section of another national newspaper and continued working for about a year, before he was compelled to quit due to his health issues.
In early 2009, he began working as a translator for the BBC World Service Trust, a job offered to him by his English professor in college who has enormous faith in his writing and believes in him more than he ever did. He is still working with the BBC, and have had several contracts with them. He mostly worked on translations but has also edited works by other translators for an entire season of a political TV dialogue.
In January 2011, he came across Suite101 and applied to be a writer and was thrilled when chosen. However he hasn't been able to contribute much to the website because of the added pressure of studies and other personal issues. He is also dealing with several physical complications, notably, IBS, Cervical Spondylosis and Anxiety Neurosis, and hence often writes about these conditions after extensive research and from personal experience.
Towards the end of March 2011, he was in an accident leading to a brain hemorrhage and multiple skull fractures, and also suffered from retrograde amnesia. He is now home bound and has decided to write more often.
Kutubuddin Kamal is 24 years old and resides in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
